Language-Based Program

The Coffin, Village, Veterans, and High School Grades 2 through 12

The Language Based Program is a full day special education program for students who have average to above average cognitive ability as measured by formal evaluations and have been diagnosed with significant language based learning disabilities. Academics are taught within a small group setting where the information is presented using specialized instruction in order to meet individual student's needs. Language and communication instruction is embedded within all curriculum areas. Students in this program do not have a history of any primary emotional or behavioral problems. The Language based program follows the Massachusetts Common Core State Standards.

Program Components

1:1 or small group reading tutorial
Individual and small group academic instruction
High staff to student ratio
Ongoing consultation with specialists to individualize tutorial and instructional needs
Oral language and written expression instruction supported by speech and language professionals
Assistive Technology consultant to provide support with the implementation of instructional tools, software and products to enhance learning
