My class policies:
Freshmen
Juniors (CP1 & Honors)
My only “rule” is this: BE RESPONSIBLE. It is your responsibility as high school students to…

  • Complete your assignments to the best of your ability.
  • Know what work is assigned and when it is due. This information will ALWAYS be available on my website if you need to check.
  • Contact me ahead of time if you are having trouble—with ANYTHING. I understand that life doesn’t always go as planned! Don’t make excuses after a deadline has passed; see me or email me in advance.
  • Behave respectfully at all times. This means respecting the rules of the school* AND respecting your classmates and teachers.
Here are the details…

Assigned Work: Late homework is not generally accepted. If your homework is not complete on the due date, you earn some quality time with me after school to complete it (for full credit). If you do not show up, you will receive a zero for the assignment and quite possibly some “real” detention time. Note: always see me (or email me) BEFORE a due date if you are experiencing difficulties getting your assignment done.

Know what you miss: Excused absences will warrant an extra day (or number of consecutive days absent) for make up work (this includes tests and quizzes). After that, it will not be accepted—so make sure that you find out what you owe as soon as you return to school (if not sooner!). Make up work will not be accepted for unexcused absences.

*A note on school rules:
Cell phones, iPods, etc. are to be turned off and out of sight during school hours. I enforce this rule STRONGLY. If you text in my class, I will keep your phone until the end of the day. Repeat offenders will be referred to the assistant principal.

Class Rules:
1.      Be respectful
2.      Be RESPONSIBLE

This means that you must respect your school and its administration, your faculty, your classmates, and yourself. Therefore: don’t talk over other people, don’t break school rules (refer to your handbook), don’t be late to class, don’t insult others…etc. DO come to class ready to participate, DO ask any and all questions you may have, and DO see me when you need help!

Homework:
11 CP1
Homework completion is required. Be responsible for your grade by always checking my website for assignments and upcoming due dates. Handouts will almost always be available for download if you’ve lost something. In general, homework loses 25% of its value for each day late.

11 Honors
Homework completion is required. I do not accept late homework. Period. Be responsible for your grade by always checking my website for assignments and upcoming due dates. Handouts will almost always be available for download if you’ve lost something.

Reading:
11 CP1
Do your reading! Relying on SparkNotes will do you very little good, though it is an okay place to start if you are utterly confused. Taking notes (including questions and confusions) will benefit you greatly! Bring them to class with you daily. Failure to keep up with reading will impact you severely. Be responsible.

11 Honors
Once we get into full swing, expect around one hundred pages per week of reading for class. Taking notes (including questions and confusions) will benefit you greatly! Bring them to class with you daily. Failure to keep up with reading will impact you severely. Be responsible.
Papers, Projects, etc:
Papers and projects will lose 10% for each day they are late.

Know what you miss:
Excused absences will warrant an extra day (or number of consecutive days absent) for make up work (this includes tests and quizzes). After that, it will not be accepted—so be responsible. Make up work will not be accepted for unexcused absences.
